On 1 May Patti told the crowd at the CBGB’s Mayday show:
"This is what curating the Meltdown festival is like:
They send me lists of hundreds of people I’ve never heard of, because most of the people I listen to are all dead. So I had to get to know a few live people. You become more sociable..."Ticket sales for the first shows started May 5th, the "Horses" show was sold out in a few hours.
The final festival line up comprised more than 20 performances, readings, an exhibition of Patti Smith’s photos, films and discussions.
Patti Smith arrived on June 15th and from that day on was on stage every day, performing with her own band or with other artists.
