"For the first time in Spain, Smith’s photographic work is being presented at the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró in an exhibition comprising a selection of 33 black and white photographs that pay tribute to individuals, objects and situations that have been a source of creativity for the artist. Her photographs stand out for their exceptional use of light, together with a grainy texture characteristic of the camera. All portray images devoid of any kind of ornamentation, transformed into silver gelatine prints. They have an eloquent, old-fashioned purity, conveying a delicate, melancholy sensitivity through images that the artist transforms into icons.
